Humanistic studies represent one of the most noble educational paths. A journey of understanding human nature, language, and history, developing an ethical attitude towards others, understanding the world, and conscious coexistence with nature and all living beings. Since its beginnings, humanities have been dedicated to the deepest human need: the question of meaning, of the human in relation to others, to community, cosmos, and the transcendent.
From the so-called artes liberales – liberal arts, which were the foundation of education already in the Hellenistic era, the foundations of the classical university have grown over the centuries. During the Renaissance, Enlightenment, and the development of science, humanities actively shaped the world as we know it today. Very early on, philosophical or humanities faculties became one of the key pillars of university education, alongside theological, legal, and medical faculties.
Since its establishment, the ISH Faculty has been fulfilling these fundamental goals: to nurture freedom of spirit, respect for diversity, critical thinking, and responsible action. We combine quality teaching with research excellence and actively involve students in the life of the faculty. ISH is a place of living dialogues, where academic curiosity, ethical responsibility, and respect for the identity, culture, and beliefs of each individual are cultivated.

The faculty actively responds to contemporary social challenges through the development of so-called applied humanities. At the intersection of digital, medical, and environmental humanities, research is conducted that connects humanities, social, environmental, and health sciences. Such interdisciplinary collaboration opens new paths for shaping a fairer, more responsible, and holistic future.
