Research Center for Dance
The Dance Research Centre operates within the Alma Mater Europaea Academy of Dance and brings together researchers from the fields of dance art, dance pedagogy, philosophy of art, digital media, and other related disciplines. It places special emphasis on researching dance as an artistic, cultural, educational, and social practice, as well as on developing contemporary research methods at the intersection of the arts, humanities, healthcare, and digital technologies.
The Centre promotes interdisciplinary research in the areas of contemporary dance, choreography, dance film, dance therapy, dance pedagogy, and the use of new technologies in artistic creation. Its research work also includes studying the impact of dance on an individual's physical, cognitive, and psychosocial health, as well as developing innovative approaches to integrating the arts into education, healthcare, and the social environment.
As the only higher education institution in Slovenia specialized in the field of dance art, the Academy of Dance makes an important contribution to the development of the national cultural and research landscape. Dance, as a universal form of non-verbal communication, represents an important part of cultural identity and creative expression; therefore, research in this field contributes to the understanding of artistic practices, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the development of new forms of artistic creation.
The Research Centre actively participates in national and international projects and encourages cooperation with institutions in the fields of arts, education, culture, health, social welfare, and digital technologies. In this way, it contributes to the development of dance art at the academic level, the international recognition of Slovenian dance creativity, and the creation of new knowledge at the intersection of art, science, and society.
