At Alma Mater in Maribor, we hosted the renowned Italian physiotherapist and researcher Prof. Dr. Vincenzo G. Ferraro, who delivered a top-level masterclass on ultrasound therapy for sports injuries.
Dr. Ferrara, who collaborates with elite athletes through Futura Sports Clinic—including Olympic triathletes and marathon runners—brought students closer to the approaches used where seconds and millimetres of progress make the difference. After an in-depth theoretical part, a practical demonstration followed, where participants transferred their knowledge directly into the clinical environment.
The event was marked by outstanding attendance and active student engagement, increasingly aware that you don’t become a top physiotherapist only from books—but above all through practice.
Physical energy as a tool of the future
Prof. Dr. Ferrara is also the author of the acclaimed professional monograph Physical Modalities in Physiotherapy – Clinical Strategies and Operational Protocols, which reveals how light, sound, and electrical energy can directly influence processes in the human body.
Instead of the classic understanding of physiotherapy as a mechanical approach, the book shows that through the precise use of physical energies we can accelerate regeneration, reduce pain, and influence the very functioning of tissues.
Not only how—above all why
One of the greatest advantages of Ferrara’s approach is understanding the background. It is not merely about how to carry out therapy, but why it works.
By combining knowledge of cell biology, physiology, and modern technology, students gain insight into the mechanisms behind successful recovery—from reducing inflammation to accelerating regeneration.
Knowledge you can use immediately
The monograph and lecture emphasize practicality. More than 100 therapeutic protocols, clear operational sequences, and specific clinical cases ensure that knowledge doesn’t stop at theory, but becomes applicable in practice the very next day.
The key message is clear: we achieve the greatest results through thoughtful combination of methods and the correct sequence of therapies.
Studies that connect you with the top of the profession
Such events are not an exception, but part of our university. We enable students to connect with the best experts and knowledge used in elite sport and modern clinical practice.
