Movement Day

9. 5. 2025

At Alma Mater Europaea University, we marked this year's Movement Day with focused attention on vulnerable groups. Our physiotherapy students, under the mentorship of lecturer Tatjana Horvat, mag., visited Varstveno delovni center POLŽ Maribor, where they performed movement exercises, balance, coordination, and strength exercises together with the clients.

World Movement Day reminds us every year of the importance of physical activity for health, well-being, and quality of life. Regular movement significantly contributes to the prevention of many chronic diseases, improves mental health, promotes social connection, and maintains functional abilities throughout all stages of life.

With this, we demonstrated that professional knowledge and human closeness can create a space where every individual feels included, valued, and empowered through movement. The event was an exceptional opportunity for intergenerational cooperation, practical learning, and strengthening empathy, which is crucial in the physiotherapist profession.

On World Movement Day, we once again confirmed that small gestures can be big changes.

Sometimes just one shared step is enough to move much more than just the body. Movement is a power that heals, builds relationships. It is not only physical effort but a way of connecting, encouraging self-confidence, and restoring a sense of value. When working with people from more vulnerable groups, it is also about trust, respect, and shared experience," says Maruša, a student of physiotherapy at Alma Mater Europaea University .
