VISIT OF MPs

15. 7. 2025

The Alma Mater Europaea University was visited today by the parliamentary group of New Slovenia – Christian Democrats (NSi). The visit was aimed at better understanding the role, significance, and challenges of the youngest Slovenian university, which with its presence and programs significantly contributes to the development of the Slovenian higher education area.

The university leadership presented to the members of parliament the key achievements as well as the development directions and vision for the future. Special emphasis was also placed on the presentation of student activities that enrich the academic and social environment of Alma Mater.

The dean and university secretary general, Associate Professor Dr. Barbara Toplak Perovič, highlighted several pressing issues faced by Alma Mater as a private higher education institution in her presentation. She particularly emphasized the issue of paid study:

For many years, we have been striving to make study in certain programs, where there is a shortage of staff – for example in healthcare – free of charge for students. We believe that it should be in the state's interest to enable education in deficit areas for everyone, regardless of whether it is a public or private university.

The visit took place in an open and constructive spirit, during which the members of parliament expressed interest in the proposals and initiatives of the university leadership and assured that the gathered information will be included in further discussions and policy-making in the field of higher education.
