On World Philosophy Day

On World Philosophy Day

21. 11. 2025

The third Thursday in November is traditionally dedicated to UNESCO World Philosophy Day.

On this occasion, the Slovensko filozofsko društvo, led by a lecturer at the Fakulteti ISH Univerze Alma Mater Europaea and head of Založebe AMEU doc. dr. Gašper Pirc, organized two events in Ljubljana: a morning main program at the Filozofski fakulteti and an afternoon presentation of new publications in the field of philosophy and the humanities at the Konzorcij bookstore.

At the presentation of the new work by Dr. Klepec and the translation of the book by Max Horkheimer, Dr. Pirc also presented his monograph Kritična hermenevtika and announced the release of a new book, Virtualni svetovi in vrednote digitalne prihodnosti, which will be published next month by Založebi AMEU.

This year’s World Philosophy Day, which UNESCO is marking on the theme of 'well-being', opens questions about understanding the well-being of pupils, high school students, and university students, as well as the role of philosophy in shaping it. As emphasized by the Slovensko filozofsko društvo, well-being goes beyond merely feeling good and also includes the broader existential and ethical dimensions of human life.
