Mode of Implementation and Course of Study (Bachelor's)

Social Gerontology

Hybrid Lectures

The study process in the undergraduate Social Gerontology program at Alma Mater is conducted in a hybrid mode, which means that students can attend lectures either on-site or online via the Zoom application. Regularly enrolled students must attend 60% of the lectures on-site, while the remaining 40% of the time they can follow the lectures online, but they must submit a summary of the lectures to their Moodle online classrooms within six days. Part-time students can attend all lectures online, but they must submit a summary of the lectures to their Moodle online classrooms within six days to ensure 100% attendance at the lectures.

Lectures are held in the morning hours, between 8:30 and 13:15. All lectures are recorded, and the recordings will be available to all Alma Mater students via e-classrooms on Moodle and remain posted throughout the year.

Exercises

Attendance at exercises is mandatory (100%) and is a condition for taking the exam. Exercises are usually held on-site in the afternoon between 16:00 and 20:15 during the week and on Saturdays between 9:00 and 13:15, unless otherwise specified by the course instructor. Exercises are not recorded and cannot be followed online. Regular students must attend all exercises, while part-time students only need to attend the first and last exercises of each course.

Practical Training

Practical training is conducted in all three years - one week in the first year, two weeks in the second year, and three weeks in the third year. It is organized by the faculty throughout Slovenia, and the student chooses the institution where they will complete the practical training. It usually takes place from March onwards, during morning hours, between 8:00 and 16:00. For students who are already employed, it is possible to have the practical training recognized.

Exam Periods

Courses generally follow one after another, meaning the first exam period is immediately after the lectures and completed exercises, and there is no need to wait for the exam session. Usually, four exam periods are announced for each course. Exams are held at Alma Mater premises or online depending on the course, usually at 15:00, but sometimes at 14:00.

Study Obligations

Study obligations are generally carried out 4 to 5 times a week in blocks of 3 to 5 school hours.
