Method of Implementation and Course of Study (PhD)

Archival Sciences

Lectures

The study process in the doctoral study program Archival Sciences at Alma Mater is currently conducted only in Ljubljana, but can also take place in Maribor if there is sufficient interest. Lectures are held in a hybrid manner, meaning that students can attend lectures either on-site or online via the Zoom application.

Lectures take place in the afternoon, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. All lectures are recorded, and the recordings will be available to all Alma Mater students through the e-classrooms on Moodle and remain published throughout the year. If students attend lectures online, they must submit a summary of the lectures to their online classrooms on Moodle within six days to ensure 100% attendance at the lectures.

Exam periods

Subjects generally follow one after another, which means the first exam period is immediately after the lectures and completed exercises, and there is no need to wait for the exam session. Usually, four exam periods are announced for each subject. Exams are taken on Alma Mater premises or online depending on the subject, usually at 4:00 PM, but possibly later.

Doctoral procedure

In the first year, students submit their research interest areas. In the second year, they focus on preparing the dissertation proposal, which is approved by the Commission for Scientific Research Work (KZRD) and the Senate. In the third year, the publication of a scientific article follows, along with the preparation and successful defense of the doctoral dissertation.
