Social Gerontology
Lectures
The study process in the doctoral study programme Social Gerontology at Alma Mater is conducted in Maribor or online.
Lectures take place in the afternoon, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. All lectures are delivered in a hybrid format (in person or online via videoconference), are recorded, and the recordings are made available to all Alma Mater students through the Moodle e-classrooms, where they remain published for the entire year. If students attend lectures online, they must submit a lecture summary to their Moodle online classrooms within six days in order to secure 100% attendance for the lectures.
Study obligations
Study obligations are usually carried out 1 to 2 times a week in blocks of 3 to 5 school hours.
Exam periods
Courses usually follow one after another, which means the first exam period is immediately after the lectures and completed exercises, and there is no need to wait for the exam session. Four exam dates are usually scheduled for each course. Exams are taken at Alma Mater premises or online depending on the course, usually after 16:00.
Doctoral procedure
In the first year, students submit their research interest areas. In the second year, they focus on preparing the dissertation proposal, which is approved by the Commission for Scientific Research Work (KZRD) and the Senate. In the third year, the publication of a scientific article follows, as well as the preparation and successful defense of the doctoral dissertation.
