Graduate of the Academy of Dance Johanna Greiner gained valuable insights into the life of an artist on the "independent scene" during her four-month internship with Darrel Toulon and Boštjan Ivanjš in Alpha Group.
This experience allowed her to delve into the world of art, where communication, management, and research are just as important as the artistic skills themselves.
As part of content and creative tasks, she participated in an elective week, where she witnessed Toulon's "Docu-Dance-Theatre." This method was based on transforming the stories of contemporary witnesses into artistic performances. The testimonies of participants who shared their personal stories about Lebensborn were both challenging and deeply enlightening. Johanna learned how history shapes identities and developed a lecture for a symposium based on Aleida Assmann's theories of cultural memory.
Finally, as part of career development tasks, she collaborated with Boštjan Ivanjiš, who helped her improve her application materials and provided valuable guidance on how to become a professional in the field of dance. Inspired by her family history, she developed the concept of an intergenerational project focused on traditional carpentry.
Overall, this internship was an important period for her. As Johanna said:
