Physiotherapy students at Alma Mater Europaea University performed excellently in providing physiotherapy support to competitors at this year's World Table Tennis Championship for patients with Parkinson's disease, which took place in Laško.
“We gained invaluable experience from the clinical environment. This collaboration was not only a great opportunity to develop practical skills but also a key support for the competitors who received professional physiotherapy care during the demanding competition,”
the students report. They add that they are enthusiastic about this kind of collaboration as it allows them to work closely with patients and gain insight into therapies for specific medical conditions.
Table tennis for patients with Parkinson's disease means more than just a sport. It has been proven to improve coordination, balance, and contribute to slowing the progression of the disease. Alma Mater students, with their presence and professional knowledge, are an important part of the event organized by Društvo Trepetlika, the association of patients with parkinsonism and other extrapyramidal disorders.
We are proud that our students participate in this important event that combines sport, health, and professional care, and through their work contribute to a better quality of life for patients with Parkinson's disease,”
said mentor mag. Tatjana Horvat, head of the Terapija institute at Alma Mater. Gratitude and enthusiasm were also expressed by the organizer of this world championship, Aleš Antolinc.
