A new study, published in the journal Healthcare, provides concrete evidence of the effectiveness of integrated home care. Based on data from the MOST pilot project, it demonstrates that community-oriented support significantly contributes to the independence and better quality of life of the elderly.

A new study has been published in the recognized international scientific journal Healthcare (MDPI), bringing valuable findings for the field of long-term care for the elderly.

The author Suzanna Me7enarec-Novosel, together with co-authors Prof. Dr. David Bogataj, Prof. Dr. Marija Bogataj, and Prof. Dr. Eneja Drobe7e, studied the impact of integrated home care in Slovenia.

The study is based on data from the MOST pilot project, which took place in the municipality of Kr61ko as preparation for the introduction of the Long-Term Care Act. Its results provide concrete evidence of the effectiveness of the new approach to elderly care.

Findings:
  • Nearly half of the users of integrated care showed improvement in assessed functional abilities.
  • Reactivation services (such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, etc.) had a positive effect on more than 23% of users, demonstrating their potential to enhance independence and quality of life.
  • Statistical analysis confirms that integrated care has a higher likelihood of success compared to traditional forms of care.
  • The results support the inclusion of reactivation services in legislation and encourage the development of community-oriented care, enabling the elderly to live longer in their home environment and contributing to a sustainable health and social system.

The publication represents an important contribution to the development of subordinate legislation and the establishment of standards for quality community care.
