Rotaract Club Alma Mater: a new generation of young socially responsible leaders

Founding charter

17. 6. 2025

With the desire to promote active social responsibility and international networking of youth, Alma Mater Europaea University established the university Rotaract club in district 1912 Slovenia – North Macedonia.

Rotaract is a space where young people leave their mark both locally and globally with their knowledge, energy, and dedication. The establishment of the new university club Alma Mater Europaea significantly contributes to this international network, in which young people actively shape a more just, connected, and compassionate society. The new club was created under the mentorship of Rotary Club Maribor, which, as a sponsoring club, supports young members in development, personal growth, and their first steps in the Rotary community.

Open doors for youth to the world of social responsibility and connection

"Joining the Rotaract family means even greater responsibility for us. It means that local actions can translate into global impact. This charter is our joint signature under the promise that we will work for the good of the community, combining professionalism, compassion, and volunteerism. That we will not wait for others to do things, but we will be the ones to start. Thank you all for your support." Lana Ritlop, president of the Rotaract club Alma Mater Europaea

Support and mentorship from Rotary Club Maribor

"The Rotaract club offers young people additional opportunities for personal and leadership development and active involvement in society. We are proud that as sponsors of the University Rotaract club Alma Mater Europaea we could offer support with knowledge, experience, and also financial boost. We are pleased that with new members we will be able to share Rotary values and contribute to the development of a new generation of socially responsible leaders." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luka Martin Toma7ei0d, president of Rotary Club Maribor

Strong encouragement from district 1912

"The establishment of the Rotaract club of Alma Mater Europaea University is an opportunity for the personal growth of young people, for cooperation and co-creation of positive changes and intergenerational collaboration. It is a platform that enables young people to develop leadership and organizational skills while practicing social responsibility. I wish the members to contribute to the development of the community with dedicated work and to co-create projects that will resonate both locally and beyond." Mag. Miroslav 60travs, governor of district 1912

Gala auction

The club founding ceremony concluded with a gala auction, which was the highlight of the evening. Among the auctioned items were bottles of selected wines of special vintages and fillings, a unique painting brought by students from a study visit to Gambia, and a handmade African mask from Ghana. The collected funds will be used to support young people and further fulfill the humanitarian goals of the Rotaract club.

A special gesture of support was also shown by Rotary Club Maribor Park, which donated 100 euros each to Rotaract and the sponsoring Rotary Club Maribor.

First humanitarian action: For Du61an

The first big story that connected the members of the new Rotaract club is the story of Du61an, an extraordinary man, athlete, and nature lover who ended up in a wheelchair after a spinal injury. Lana Ritlop: "Today's event is not only a celebration of our new role in Rotaract but also the beginning of our first joint humanitarian action. We are raising funds for Du61an for home physiotherapy, an adapted wheelchair, and to fulfill his greatest wish – to feel again, to belong to the world he loves."
