A committee exam is a form of taking an exam or the practical part of an exam before an appointed examination committee. It is conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Rules on the Verification and Assessment of Knowledge.
When is a committee exam taken?
The committee exam / practical part of the exam is taken:
- based on a request by the student or the course holder or instructor from the third attempt onward, or
- mandatorily on the last possible attempt at the exam or practical part of the exam (6th attempt).
At the last possible attempt, taking the exam before an examination committee is mandatory. If the student receives a failing grade on the last possible exam attempt, they are disenrolled from Alma Mater Europaea University.

In the application form, provide the required information about your studies and the course, the exam session, the number of attempts so far, and the reason for taking the exam before a committee.
Upon receiving the completed application form, the Student Affairs Office will ask the head or program director to appoint the committee members, arrange the registration for the written exam/practical part of the exam, and send you an invoice.

Every third and subsequent attempt, late registration or withdrawal from the committee written exam/practical part of the exam is additionally charged according to the valid price list.
Method of taking a committee exam
The committee exam takes place before a three-member examination committee composed of a chair and two members appointed by the head or director of the study program. One of the committee members is generally the course holder or instructor, while the other members are higher education teachers habilitated for the relevant field of study.
At the last possible exam attempt, the Student Council is also informed and may appoint an additional member of the examination committee. If a student is appointed to the committee, they do not have the right to grade, but instead monitor the conduct of the exam and alert the committee members to the appropriateness of its implementation.
The committee exam is generally conducted in the manner specified by the syllabus of the individual course.
Committee exams are generally conducted within the framework of regularly announced exam dates or exam sessions.
Exceptionally, a student may request to take the exam in a different form than that specified by the syllabus. The desired form of taking the exam should be indicated in the committee exam application form in the “Notes” field.
The head or director of the study program decides on the justification of such a request and on the method of conducting the exam.
Committee exam – Written exam
The written committee exam is taken together with the other students on the announced exam date. The exam questions are prepared by the course holder or instructor, and the exam paper is graded by the examination committee.
For a written committee exam, it is not necessary for all members of the examination committee to be present at the same location as the student.
Committee exam – Practical part of the exam
The practical part of the exam takes place before a three-member examination committee. The date of the oral committee exam is determined by agreement or according to the committee’s availability.
For an oral committee exam, the student and the members of the examination committee must be present at the same location.
If the committee conducts the exam at a location other than the student’s enrollment location, the exam may be scheduled at the examination committee’s location.
If the student has time-related or other justified restrictions regarding the date or location of taking the exam, they should state them when registering for the committee exam or inform the competent office about them as soon as possible.
Assessment of the committee exam
After the knowledge assessment has been completed, the committee deliberates and makes a decision by majority vote. If the result of the vote is tied, the chair of the committee decides.
In the event of a tied vote, the committee may also decide that the student must retake the committee exam.
If the student takes the committee exam as part of the last, sixth attempt at the exam and the exam is graded negatively, the student is disenrolled from the study program.
Appeal against the grade
The student may file an appeal against the grade within eight days of the publication of the grade, in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Rules on the Verification and Assessment of Knowledge.
If the committee’s decision in the appeal procedure is also negative, at the last possible attempt at the written exam / practical part of the exam, the student is disenrolled from the study program in accordance with the applicable regulations.
